Queensland Child Safety Commission of Inquiry – Youth justice and corporate parenting hearings (Toowoomba)

The Commission will hold public hearings in Toowoomba:

• Week 1: Monday 16 to Friday 20 February
• Week 2: Monday 23 to Friday 27 February

These hearings will explore the link between the child safety system and the youth justice system, and how the state acts as ‘corporate parent’, particularly for those children in both systems.

If you have not already done so, PeakCare strongly encourages you to consider making a submission to the Inquiry. There remains an opportunity to contribute your perspectives on matters relevant to the Terms of Reference.

PeakCare continues to work closely with the Commission and will keep the sector informed of any forthcoming closing dates for submissions.

PeakCare is also liaising with the Commission of Inquiry regarding potential coordinated sector-wide consultation with the Commissioner in the coming weeks. We will provide further information as soon as details are confirmed.

PeakCare will attend the hearings in Toowoomba over the next fortnight.

The Commission will now deliver its final report to Government by 22 May 2026.
