Project Paradigm – Shifting the Paradigm: The Manosphere, online misogyny and offline violence

In partnership with leading experts and academics in the field, Project Paradigm’s free webinar series enables the sharing of current research, frontline experience, and practical strategies to prevent, identify, and respond to child sexual exploitation.
In recent years online misogyny has become increasingly prevalent, with members of the so-called ‘Manosphere’ – a collection of anti-feminist and misogynistic blogs, social media channels and more – perpetrating digital harassment campaigns targeted primarily at women. This webinar will explore the complex and increasingly urgent connections between this online misogyny and real-world violence against women and children. It will examine the linkages between these patterns of violence, and specifically how digital platforms can both reflect and amplify gender-based violence, enabling the spread of harassment, doxxing, and hate speech that often also spreads to offline violence. The session will highlight patterns of online abuse, the role of technology design in perpetuating violence, and look at some effective strategies for prevention and accountability.
