Parentshop – Engaging Adolescents

Engaging Adolescents™ is a structured professional learning program that equips practitioners with evidence-informed strategies to support adolescents in the regulation of behaviour and emotional responses. The program focuses on strengthening relational engagement with adolescents, enhancing parental–adolescent relationships, and implementing effective approaches to address challenging and unacceptable behaviour.
Participants develop a clear understanding of their professional role in supporting adolescents and families, with an emphasis on fostering constructive communication and reducing the escalation of conflict. The training builds practitioner confidence in guiding parents to manage adolescent behaviour in ways that promote collaboration, emotional safety, and respectful dialogue.
The one-day professional training incorporates experiential learning methodologies, including facilitated role-play, guided group discussion, structured worksheets, and video-based case examples. Upon completion, participants are equipped to apply the program principles in clinical, educational, or community settings, and to deliver the Engaging Adolescents™ program to parents across three structured sessions. The training also provides guidance on integrating the program’s core tenets into brief, individualised one-to-one interventions.
Practitioners may elect to pursue certification as an Engaging Adolescents™ Parent Educator. Certification includes access to comprehensive facilitator resources to support high-fidelity program delivery and maintain quality assurance standards. Certification is renewed annually ($69 for the first year and $49 for subsequent years), with a mandatory refresher every five years. Annual certification is included within the refresher fee.
