NAPCAN – Creating Safe Organisations for Children & Young People Workshop

A child safe organisation values children and young people and is committed to treating their needs and safety as the top priority. This means that everyone in the organisation takes proactive steps to prevent all forms of harm and abuse and demonstrates a commitment to children and young people’s wellbeing.

All children have the right to be safe and to feel safe all of the time.

In light of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse we know that it is critical to embed a child safe culture into every single organisation that has anything to do with children or young people, either directly or indirectly. Leaders in organisations play a critical role in developing and maintaining a culture that values children and young people and is committed to treating their needs and their safety as the top priority.

This session provides an overview of the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations developed by the Australian Human Rights Commission. It includes steps that leaders can take to promote the safety, engagement and wellbeing of children and young people and prevent harm within their organisation. Help children to thrive by embedding a child safe culture in your organisation.
