Emerging Minds – Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Gaps and strengths in workforce competency

November 26, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Most health, social and community services workforces currently support child mental health at work. Research conducted by Emerging Minds shows that even service workers whose job descriptions do not include support of child mental health are regularly engaged in this work. While this research shows that competency is moderate to low across a range of child mental health domains, engagement in workforce development can make a significant difference. Improving outcomes for children and their families means enabling workforces, organisations and systems to deliver quality support across the mental health continuum.

In this webinar, Emerging Minds team members will discuss findings from the second National Workforce Survey for Child, Parent and Family Mental Health. These findings provide a snapshot of child mental health competence across a broad range of health, social and community services workers in Australia.

During the webinar, you will gain insights into areas of practice strength and areas that require further development, including differences related to location, occupation and degree of workplace support for child mental health practice. The webinar is free to attend.

This webinar is the second in a three-part series titled Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Exploring data and policy.
