Thumbs Up to the Australian Council of Social Services (ACOSS) for renewing its push to raise the Newstart allowance by as much as $95 a week. As recently asked by ACOSS CEO Dr Cassandra Goldie, “Could you survive on $489.90 a fortnight?” That’s what a single adult on Newstart receives.
