Remaining provisions for Youth Justice Act 2019 have now commenced

The remaining provisions of the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2019 commenced yesterday, Monday 16th December. This includes changes to the Youth Justice Act 1992, the Bail Act 1980, and the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000. Important changes that commenced yesterday included: introducing child-focused bail decision-making; establishing an information-sharing framework to support coordinated services for children charged with offences; enhanced requirements for police when dealing with a young person.
