The Fair Work Commission has made the decision to increase the minimum wage this year by 3% to $740.80 per week or or $19.49 an hour. The rise will apply to workers who have their pay set by the national minimum wage or a modern award. This constitutes a lower increase than the 3.5 per cent pay rise awarded last year. Newstart payments remain at less than half the minimum wage.
