Leanne’s Gift – to be shared with all involved in the child protection sector

Leanne’s Gift is an an information pack developed from the lived experience of Leanne Clausen – a parent involved in the child protection process – to shine a spotlight on the common ground of government, parents, carers and workers: the needs of children. The pack is specifically designed to bring all the information together in one place that a client of the Department of Children would need throughout their case. Included in Leanne’s Gift is the Parents Guide – a self-help guide to help support parents, with topics such as: Being guided through their first steps; Working with the Department and Carers; Preparing for court; Dealing with difficult emotions; Taking responsibility, and more. Feedback from the Department of Children’s donations of the information packs to selected service centres has been positive, with staff reporting a greater understanding of their clients through using this resource. The book is also a valuable tool for professional development. Leanne’s Gift can be purchased online through Parents on a Mission, a social enterprise created to bring a parent’s lens to the table. PeakCare warmly congratulates Leanne Clausen, one of our inaugural PeakCare Award recipients, for the achievement of Parents on a Mission in producing this impressive resource.
