Regional Offices of the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women have sent to non-government service providers within their respective regions the Department’s Framework for making decisions in the context of COVID-19.

The Framework describes:

  • Six steps that will be taken by Officers of the Department to guide their decision-making
  • Principles of the Strengthening Families Protecting Children Framework for Practice that are to be considered when decisions are made
  • Decisions made by the Department about the categorisation of services as “critical and essential”, noting that these decisions are current as at 2nd April 2020 and may change.
Non-government organisations are advised to familiarise themselves with the framework to inform their liaison with the Department and their own decision-making and practices in relation to their delivery of services where there is an intersection with those assessed by the Department as critical and essential.
