The Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) has launched Our Children: They don’t vote but they do matter developed in anticipation of the federal general election. The guide sets out a range of recommendations for the next Australian Government based on research of need and evidence of what works to prevent problems and improve the wellbeing of young Australians, including: appointing a Cabinet level minister with overarching responsibility for the wellbeing of Australia’s children; developing a National Action Plan for the wellbeing of all Australian children; shaping investments in kids and families based on research and evidence; and a national survey of parents. ARACY will be delivering a special federal election webinar series discussing policy priorities ahead of the election due in May.
