ANROWS intimate partner violence and the law podcast now available

A new podcast is now available exploring research in the complex situation of self-defence as a legal protection for women who have experienced domestic violence and killed their abusive partner. Michele Robinson, ANROWS Director, Evidence to Action, talks with researchers Professor Julia Tolmie, University of Auckland and Associate Professor Stella Tarrant, University of Western Australia, on findings from their ANROWS research project, Transforming legal understandings of intimate partner violence. The research discusses how an analysis based on a social entrapment framework can allow for a fairer assessment of the facts in cases involving intimate partner violence. The episode is the pilot of a new ANROWS podcast series, Insights, focussed on applying the evidence base to reduce violence against women and their children in Australia. Find out more and access the podcast.
