The Queensland Productivity Commission (QPC) is holding an inquiry into service delivery in Queensland’s remote and discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The inquiry, headed by Prof Bronwyn Fredericks, a Murri woman from southeast Queensland, will look at what the Queensland Government currently spends on services; what is actually delivered; improved ways to deliver existing government services; and the best ways to evaluate services delivered in communities.
There will be a range of opportunities for community leaders, service providers and residents to participate at all stages and the QPC will also be seeking formal written submissions.
The inquiry is expected to take about 11 months, with the final report to be delivered to the Treasurer on 30th November 2017.
