Queensland Child Protection Parent Perception Study

Your assistance is requested to distribute information about the Queensland Child Protection Parent Perspectives Study.

The study is being independently conducted by Griffith University and aims to find out how satisfied parents are with the quality of the child protection services offered by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.

To participate in the study, parents who are currently involved with the Department are asked to complete a survey. The survey asks questions about what it is like for parents when they have contact with their Child Safety Officer (CSO), what Child Safety should know from parents, how parents want their CSO to talk with them, what sort of approach CSOs should have, and what is important to parents. It is hoped the?data collected from the survey will contribute to improving child protection services.

The survey is open to parents (over 18 years) who are currently subject to Intervention with Parental Agreement (IPA) or a Child Protection Order (CPO). Participation is voluntary and totally confidential.

Your assistance is sought to encourage eligible parents to participate in the study and to provide any assistance needed for parents to access the survey. The survey should only take about 10 minutes to complete.

This is a genuine opportunity for parents to provide feedback to the Department in a confidential manner.

You can click here to access further information and begin the survey on-line. To receive a hard copy of the information and survey, please contact cps.parents@griffith.edu.au.

Survey responses are due by 29 February 2016. Parents who complete the survey are asked to enter in a draw to win a $100 Coles-Myer voucher and whether they wish to receive news about what parents said. Parents are also invited to complete a second survey in mid-2016.

If you would like further information about the survey, or a copy in the mail, contact?the researcher, Prof Clare Tilbury at cps.parents@griffith.edu.au.
