COVID lockdown to end this evening, but some restrictions continue

By now, it is likely that you are aware of the announcement made by Premier Palaszczuk this morning that the 3-day lockdown will end at 6pm this evening on Monday, 11th January, but some restrictions will continue to apply for several more days. This includes, in particular, requirements to continue wearing masks in certain circumstances and locations.

Further to the Premier’s advice, your attention is now drawn to the following correspondence released by Ms Deidre Mulkerrin, Director-General, Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.

You are strongly encouraged to observe Ms Mulkerrin’s advice to regularly monitor information about the easing of restrictions located on the Queensland Health general COVID-19 updates page and to stay in touch with updated information and resources posted on the Department’s website.

Message from Ms Mulkerrin on Monday, 11th January 2021 – 

Dear colleagues,

Following on from the Premier’s announcement this morning, it is great to hear that we had no new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and the Greater Brisbane region three-day lockdown will conclude at 6pm tonight.

Some restrictions remain place and we are required to continue to wear masks in several key locations and situations, and to practise social distancing at all times.

Queensland Health also has updated advice on the easing of restrictions and added information on their general COVID-19 updates page.

As the Premier and Chief Health Officer are providing new information frequently, I encourage you to please continue to monitor news reports regularly for updates and follow Queensland Health on Facebook or Twitter.

As I mentioned on Friday, I want to reassure you that as a department we are well prepared for all possible outcomes with regard to COVID-19. We are operating as usual and expect that as one of our funded service providers you will do the same until further advice comes to hand.
