PeakCare is running yet another competition. All you need to do is submit correct answers to five simple questions listed below. The answers to all five questions can be located within either the National Framework for Protecting Australias Children 2009-2020?or the third three-year Action Plan 2015-2018 ? Driving Change: Intervening Early. Your answers are to be emailed to groberts@peakcare.org.au.

Q1: The National Framework for Protecting Australias Children features six supporting outcomes. List at least three of the six outcomes.

Q2. Is this statement true or false in accordance with the National Framework?

Maintaining connection to family, community and culture is essential within a framework that respects the physical, mental and emotional security of the child. This is particularly important in light of the historical experiences that Aboriginal families have had with child protection agencies. Strategies should build on existing strengths, match expectations with appropriate supports, and recognise the importance of Indigenous-led and managed solutions.

Q3. What are the five domains of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle?

Q4. One of the strategies included in the third three-year Action Plan is focussed on helping young people in out-of-home care to thrive in adulthood. List at least two actions to be undertaken in developing and supporting young people in care to transition to adulthood and improve their priority access to support services.

Q5. Is this statement true or false?

One of the priority actions to be commenced under the third three-year Action Plan is the development of National Standards for out-of-home care to improve the quality of care for children and young people and to ensure that they have the same opportunities as other children and young people.
