And the winner is…

PeakCare is pleased and proud to announce that, in partnership with Croomo, PeakCare has been awarded Gold for the Best Learning and Development Project – Wellbeing at the 2019 LearnX Live Awards for the e-learning approach to the Hope and Healing Framework for working with children living in residential care. It has been a pleasure to work with Croomo on the development of the Hope and Healing modules and it is an honour to share this award with them.

There are now close to 5,500 residential care workers organised into 120 ‘teams’ from 43 organisations enrolled in the Hope and Healing e-learning program, with over 2,000 residential care workers having completed all ten modules. A monumental achievement!

PeakCare sincerely thanks the many organisations and individuals who have made enormous contributions to the development of the modules including, in particular, Encompass Family and Community, Paul Testro Consultancy Services and Pracademics. Thank you also to Pracademics for your production of the Stories of Hope and Healing podcasts included within the modules and members of the Hope and Healing Expert Advisory Group, residential care staff and very importantly, young people with a lived experience of residential care whose voices ring out loudly and clearly in these podcasts. Thank you also to the many residential care workers who, through your attendance at workshops held throughout the State, identified to us the knowledge and skills you need to successfully implement the framework. We trust that the advice you gave to us has been reflected throughout the modules.

Our appreciation is also extended to Child Safety Minister Di Farmer and Officers of the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women for your sponsorship and support throughout the project and to TAFE Queensland for your collaboration in ensuring strong synergies exist between the Hope and Healing Framework and the courses you provide. Our thanks are also sent to Deb Galvin for your assistance in setting up 120 teams and coordinating their access to the modules (no mean feat!) and the staff from many organisations who have enthusiastically provided your feedback and suggestions about the modules and worked with us in establishing the teams. A special thank you is also extended to Pam Spall whose ideas whilst working for PeakCare generated this initiative and to Lesley Leece, PeakCare’s Assistant Director for your patient and skilful management of the project. Our biggest thank you is saved for all the residential care workers who have or are in the process of completing the Hope and Healing modules.
