Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2021 – the public hearings

As previously reported on in eNews, the Legal Affairs and Safety Committee is due to table its report to Parliament on the consideration the Committee has given to the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2021 on Friday, 16th April. Public hearings about the Bill have been held by the Committee in Mt Isa, Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The televised broadcasts of these hearings are now available for viewing on the Parliament TV Archives. When accessing the Archives, click on the heading LASC and you will be taken to the hearings held about the Bill. PeakCare strongly encourages all who work within the child protection sector to watch the archived footage. This especially includes the hearing held in Brisbane on Monday, 22nd March. In addition to the benefits to be achieved from obtaining a better understanding about how Committees conduct the business of considering legislation that has been introduced to Parliament, this hearing featured a formidable line-up of witnesses speaking about matters that should be of interest to all who work within our sector. Watch it – it makes for compelling viewing.
