On 24th July, Child Safety Minister Shannon Fentiman announced a 12-month trial of three new Child Safety and Police ‘Joint Response Teams’ to be established in Toowoomba, Townsville and the Gold Coast. Additionally, four Child Safety staff will be stationed in the Police Headquarters at Roma Street, Brisbane. “These new rapid response teams will work together to ensure the safety of vulnerable children by engaging daily to identify relevant cases and share information,” Ms Fentiman said. “Sharing critical information quickly could be the vital step that saves a child’s life and we want Police and Child Safety staff to have the best possible chance to do that.” Click here for more information about this initiative.
