It’s time for a Human Rights Act for Queensland – be a part of it happening!

The Palaszczuk government has confirmed that it intends honoring its commitment to introduce a Human Rights Act. The Queensland legislation will be modelled on the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act, introduced in 2006.

How much do you know about what a Human Rights Act will mean for YOU, your ORGANISATION and the CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE and FAMILIES who receive your organisation’s services?

Watch these PeakCare videos – A Human Rights Act for Queensland: Needed or Not featuring Human Rights Act for Queensland campaign coordinator Aimee McVeigh being interviewed by PeakCare’s Lindsay Wegener and this filmed panel discussion with James Farrell (Community Legal Centres Queensland), Karyn Walsh (Micah Projects) and Janet Wight (Youth Advocacy Centre).

To find out why PeakCare supports the introduction of a Human Rights Act, read our submission to the Parliamentary inquiry that was conducted in 2016 and click here to access the inquiry report.

To show your support for the introduction of a Human Rights Act, print, display and distribute this PeakCare produced poster – let the pictures paint a thousand words. To find out other ways in which you and your organisation can support the introduction of a Human Rights Act, visit the Human Rights Act for Queensland website.

DO NOT WAIT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, PLAY A PART IN IT HAPPENING
