PeakCare is pleased to introduce our new ‘Thumbs Up – Thumbs Down’ addition to eNews. Each week, we will be publishing a ‘Thumbs Up’ or a ‘Thumbs Down’ about matters that have come to our attention and draw either our commendation or condemnation. If there are matters that you think are worthy of one or other of these acknowledgements, email lwegener@peakcare.org.au and we will consider publishing them. To get the ball rolling, we are bestowing both a ‘Thumbs Up’ and a ‘Thumbs Down’ this week.
To the RACQ for publishing their article, Equal Understanding: Queensland scores an ‘F’ on the Closing the Gap Report 2019 in the latest edition of their Road Ahead magazine. It’s fantastic to see the RACQ advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and using their influence as Queensland’s largest club to promote issues that should be of concern to all Queenslanders.
To the Federal Government for again ruling out this week any intentions to review or increase the Newstart allowance. It has now been more than two decades since the allowance has been increased in real terms.
