The Australian Research Council is conducting a Discovery Project investigating the design of systems to support the recordkeeping rights of people who experience childhood out-of-home care. The Rights in Records by Design project is looking at developing a model to better meet lifelong identity, memory and accountability needs. As part of the project, they are undertaking a survey on the views of recordkeeping and other professionals in the out-of-home care sector on capacities to implement: Recordkeeping Principles for Child Safety and Wellbeing (Recommendation 8.4) handed down by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in December 2017, and Records Access Principles and Guidelines developed in 2015 as part of the Department of Social Service’s Find & Connect Services and Projects. The survey asks how these principles are being applied throughout the sector, any barriers to their adoption, and other issues that surface in their implementation. Complete the survey online.
