SILs Youth Worker (Toowoomba) – UnitingCare

UnitingCare is seeking a casual SILs Youth Worker working as part of the out-of-home care team at the Toowoomba location. Renumeration includes $45 base rate plus 11% super.

About the role –

UnitingCare Queensland is taking expressions of interest SILs Youth Workers to join the Toowoomba out-of-home care team on a casual basis.

SILs Youth Workers work with young people in out of home care who have moderate to extreme needs, supporting them to:

  • Feel safe and nurtured in a stable environment
  • Feel a strong sense of identity and belonging
  • Build positive and trusting connections with family, friends and community
  • Learn and develop to their full potential
  • Make healthy lifestyle choices and access health care services
  • Develop strong social and interpersonal skills

In addition to the above your role will also include but not be limited to:

  • Maintaining a clean and safe home environment
  • Managing day to day tasks within the context of a residential care home
  • Completing verbal and written reports

Working with young people in residential care who have complex and challenging needs will require a calm and non-judgemental nature. You will be emotionally intelligent, creative and flexible and be able to build strong relationships with the young people. A solid understanding of the child protection system as well as having a strong therapeutic background would be highly advantageous. 

  • Hold a minimum Cert IV or above  in Human Services, Community Services, Youth Services or related field
  • Completion of the Hope and Healing Framework Foundations Training or be willing to undertake this.
  • Willingness to work in a 24hr roster system
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • A current Qld Open Driver Licence
  • A senior First Aid Certificate
