Child Family Community Australia are conducting a national study of therapeutic residential care services. Each service organisation that offers therapeutic residential care is invited to take part in a research survey to better understand how services are currently configured in terms of staffing, rostering, physical location, unit size and other characteristics across Australia. The Department of Social Services (DSS) is now accepting submissions in response to its Stronger Outcomes for Families – Discussion Paper June 2018. The discussion paper proposes five key principles for the future design of programs for families and children, and invites feedback from the sector, academia, state and territory governments, and families on these principles and the future of family and children services more generally. Submissions close 15th August.
The Senate joint select committee on oversight of the implementation of redress related recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse is accepting submissions until 17th August. The committee is inquiring into the Australian government’s response to the redress related recommendations of the Royal Commission, including the establishment and operation of the Commonwealth Redress Scheme and ongoing support of survivors.
