ProCare Australia is seeking a fixed-term Response and Connection Practitioner located in Townsville to assist with services provided by a major client, who is a leading provider of the Queensland-wide domestic and family violence helplines, Womensline and MenslineSexual Assault Helpline for anyone who has been impacted by sexual abuse, including friends and family of survivors of assault, whether recent or historic and also provides VictimConnect, a new program supporting people impacted by violent crime in Queensland, and clinical oversight as well as specialist counselling services under the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family Violence Counselling Service, 1800RESPECT.

This is a Fixed Permanent Part Time contract till 30th June 2024 with possibility of extension covering a range of shifts.
The Response & Connection Practitioner (RC Practitioner) will be the first point of contact for victim-survivors seeking specialist support from the Victims of Crime Community Response service (VOCCR).
As a key member of the VOCCR team the RC Practitioner will receive referrals and undertake risk and needs assessment, with a view to providing appropriate support through face-to-face and/or video-conferencing or telephone contact (at the request of the victim) to address the urgent and immediate needs of victims and their families following violent crime (including the provision of assistance to address short-term needs such as accommodation, food, transport etc.), undertake follow up and provide referral to facilitate connection with support services for longer term supports.
VOCCR is a crisis/immediate response service, and therefore it is expected that there will be occasions where the RC practitioner will provide psychological first aid and brief support to individuals who present in acute distress, including through the provision of traditional CBT interventions such as mindfulness activities and grounding, and normalising of trauma responses. RC practitioners will also have a key role in guiding people to appropriate pathways of supports, including through knowing their rights as victims of crime.
Salary and benefits:
- $82,045.60pa – $88,277.80 + Super
