At the eight Hope and Healing by Design workshops (April to May 2017) held to inform the development of professional development strategies to support implementation of the Hope and Healing framework, residential care staff gave feedback that ‘purposeful programming’ was a high priority learning need.
The Purposeful programming in residential care workshop to be presented by Martha J. Holden will cover:
- Core concepts that guide quality therapeutic residential services
- The purpose of therapeutic residential care
- Creating a therapeutic milieu
- Programming for successful outcomes—designing routines, structures and activities to provide therapeutic care
- Assessing individual needs and programming to achieve individual outcomes
- Balancing individual and group needs
