Involving young people in policy development has been shown to improve outcomes for young people and the community. Earlier this month, the Queensland Youth Strategy was launched, with more than 1,200 young people sharing their views and ideas in the consultation stage on youth issues, including education, employment, disability and health, that will affect their lives now and in the future. The Queensland government is also committed to publishing an annual youth statement to report on progress and future priorities for the strategy. View the strategy online or find out how young people can have their say – via the government’s eHub, or by nominating to join the Queensland Youth Reference Group and the YMCA Youth Parliament.
