It has been eight weeks since the Queensland Government announced a review into the state’s residential care system. Since this time, PeakCare has participated in twelve regional workshops, online events, visited residential care homes, and had countless conversations with carers, parents and young people.
Throughout this process, more than 300 stakeholders have engaged and shared their valuable contributions. There is no better way to share what those participating in the review are saying than by transcribing their own words.
The following statements are a short selection of what we’ve heard from review stakeholders so far:
PeakCare would like to thank everyone who has shared their voice so far. We believe every voice matters, every voice should be heard, and every person involved can make a positive difference for Queensland children and families.
Every parent of every child in out of home care (especially residential placements) should be contacted and consulted through this investigation
Not just the ones you want to hear from.
Thanks Rebecca,
PeakCare has and continues to advocate for the department’s review to include a wide range of voices including those of children and parents with lived experience of the child protection system. We encourage everyone to contribute their voice either directly through the Queensland Government’s Get Involved submission portal or by contacting PeakCare directly.
Kind Regards, Tom
