Queensland government launches new five-year plan

This week the Queensland government released Supporting Families Changing Futures 2019-23 – The Queensland Government’s plan for helping Queensland children, young people, parents and families experiencing vulnerability – a five year strategy for the final stage of the decade-long child and family reform program. The strategy is centred around wellbeing outcomes – Safe, Secure and Stable; Healthy; Learning, Earning and Developing and Participating, Belonging and Identity. Key focus areas include: promoting a whole-of-government approach to helping families; increasing the reach and effectiveness of family support services; enhancing cross-agency responses; reducing the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the child protection system; increasing types of care; and strengthening support for carers and kin. Read more about the plan on the government’s website.
