Placement Support Worker (fixed term, part time, Emerlad) – AnglicareCQ

Anglicare CQ is seeking a fixed term, part time (48 hours/ftn) Placement Support Worker working from Emerald, Central Queensland.

About the role – 

The Placement Support Worker will find prompt and appropriate placement for children requiring care once referred by Child Safety Services with approved and suitable carers.

What will a typical day look like?

  • Engage with carers to support children in all aspects of life, at home and in the wider community.
  • Use observational and evaluation skills to contribute to the assessment of children and carers needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Child Safety Services, community agencies and elders to establish and maintain sound working relationships.
  • Provide on-call services through a scheduled roster.
  • Identify carer training and developmental needs to ensure the needs of the children are met.
  • Perform all duties to a high standard reflecting policy, procedure, privacy, confidentiality, and practice standards.
  • Perform carer inductions and conduct carer needs analysis to determine appropriate support mechanisms and ensure placement suitability.
  • Support carers to understand the child/children’s therapeutic needs and support them to grow and develop.
  • Support the team in the development and implementation of activities and events for children and carers.
  • Complete the renewal of carer approvals, ensuring that all licensing requirements and standards are met.

Mandatory –

  • Full COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Certificate IV in Community Services (Child Protection) with significant experience in a similar field.
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
