This role aims to provide support to young people (12-18 years) in the care of Child Safety who are self-placing and are accessing BEROS overnight support for a maximum of two nights. This is a rolling recruitment round for casual positions paid at a SCHADS Level 3. Successful applicants will have access to supervision by a qualified social worker, professional development, and team meetings. Roles may suit students in social work or human services.

*Positions are currently available at three sites: Wavell Heights, Petrie and Sippy Downs.

It is preferred workers are within a 30 minute drive to overnight accommodation based in the Sunshine Coast Region

Support may include:

  • Be available for on call or rostered overnight support shifts
  • Liaising with BEROS day workers/BEROS street to home workers/child safety after hours and other significant stakeholders to ensure safety and well-being of young person/s
  • Meaningful engagement with young person/s
  • Harm minimisation/safety planning/de-escalating behaviours of young person/s
  • Trauma informed practice approach
  • Administration: communication book, critical incident reports and data entry
  • Cooking/preparing meals for young person/s or supporting young person/s to prepare meals
  • Washing young person/s clothing or supporting young person to do so
  • Cleaning duties in the BEROS office/house
  • Additional duties as directed by Team Leader at times when young people are not in house but worker needs to be present
  • Be available for quarterly team meetings
  • Be available for 6 weekly district meetings
  • Be available for 5 weekly group supervision and informal supervision
  • Be available for regular and ongoing professional development
  • To work as part of the BEROS team (under the CLA principles and policies)
