The Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce has completed its work, with its second report Hear Her Voice Report Two – Women and girls’ experiences across the criminal justice system, delivered in early July. The report includes 92 recommendations to improve responses and supports for women and girls who are victim-survivors of sexual violence, including improving community attitudes and awareness, enabling women and girls to safely report their experiences, improving how sexual violence is investigated and how the legal system and the courts progress matters before them, as well as significant and substantial changes to the law. There are also 84 gendered recommendations to improve the experiences of women and girls as accused persons and offenders in the criminal justice system, and 12 recommendations for improved data analysis and the implementation and evaluation of the Taskforce’s recommendations. View discussion papers and public submissions, as well as the first report, on the Taskforce’s website.
