As part of the Queensland government’s Action on Ice, a new program for families of those affected by ice use and other drugs has commenced. The Breakthrough for Families program helps families and significant others of individuals affected by ice and other drugs – in particular families with children – to obtain information, develop support strategies and connect to treatment and other services. Families can receive brief individual support over several private sessions tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. An information sheet for families is available that provides an overview of the drug’s impacts and an FAQ for service providers is also available for organisations referring to the program.
