NAIDOC Week events not to be missed

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to sit down and reflect on the value that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture bring to communities. This ‘Celebrating Community-Owned Initiatives’ webinar on Friday, 9th July 9.30am – 10.45am hosted by NAPCAN will share two projects to highlight the significance of the whole-of-community working together to raise children; a concept that First Nations communities have been implementing for tens of thousands of years. The webinar will shine a light on the amazing “Girls Can, Boys Can” initiative, a partnership project between Tangentyere Family Violence Prevention Program (TFVPP) and the Larapinta Child and Family Centre (LCFC) as well as the Family Community Summit held by Child Friendly Alice. Find out more and register.

A night of festivities will celebrate this year’s NAIDOC Week at Musgrave Park, South Brisbane on Friday, 9th July. The lineup will feature live music and performances from prominent artists, a free sausage sizzle, Deadly stalls, cultural activities, kids touch footy, Heal Country panel discussion, and more. View the flyer for more details, and join in on the night with friends, family and colleagues.

Some easy to catch shows across major networks and streaming services that explore the culture and lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples should be on your watchlist – view the list and feel free to share with friends and colleagues, as well as recommend your own.
