Make a submission to support enshrining First Nations Voices in the Constitution

As called for in the Uluru Statement from the Heart, PeakCare encourages readers to make a submission in support of enshrining First Nations Voices in the Australian Constitution. A constitutionally guaranteed Voice is fair, practical and unifying – and supports real change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Submissions close Wednesday, 31st March and can be lodged online. Submissions can in particular: call on the Government to honour its election commitment to a referendum once a model for the Voice has been settled; call for enabling legislation for the Voice to be passed after a referendum has been held in the next term of Parliament; call for a membership model for the National Voice that ensures previously unheard Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have the same chance of being selected as established leadership figures. Find out more and lodge a submission.

From the Heart also has a digital canvas for people to easily sign. The digital canvas gives people the opportunity to ‘sign their support’ for the Uluru Statement, in a way similar to how the original Uluru Statement was signed. It is preferable to do both – sign the digital canvas and make a submission – as the digital canvas is not connected to the Government’s consultation process.
