Leadership opportunities for Indigenous young people

The 2019 Queensland Indigenous Youth Leadership Program provides the opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders (18-25 years), from remote, regional and urban communities to develop leadership skills and learn how to make a change in their communities. This year it will be held in Brisbane from 29th June to 3rd July. Leadership skills development and community issues are a focus, and the objectives are specifically tailored to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders to work together to develop community project proposals to help address community issues and drive change. The program culminates in the one-day Eric Deeral Indigenous Youth Parliament delivered by Queensland Parliamentary Services, providing participants with a first-hand experience of democratic processes. The Office for Youth in partnership with Glencore Coal Assets Australia meets all reasonable travel, meals and accommodation expenses for participants attending the program. Applications close at 5pm Monday, 15th April. Young people can find more information and apply online.
