Increase to foster and kinship care allowances in 2024

The Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services has announced that all Queensland foster and kinship care allowances will increase by 5.2 per cent from 1st January 2024. 

This welcome increase acknowledges the significant cost pressures and hardship being faced by many foster and kinship carers and will go some way towards alleviating these pressures.

PeakCare would like to thank all the organisations and individuals who have supported our advocacy for greater recognition and more appropriate suport for Queensland’s foster and kinship carers. While this is a positive step forward, more can and must be done to support those who every day are opening their hearts and their homes to children in need.
