The Understanding and Applying the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle: A resource for legislation, policy and program development resource provides a description of the definition of the five core elements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (ATSICPP) by drawing on the research evidence base describing the ATSICPP, and on the guidance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders in the child and family services sector. It is the first in a series of resources being produced by SNAICC for professionals in program and policy development. The five core elements highlight the importance of connections to family, community, culture and country for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
