First sitting of disability Royal Commission

The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (DRC) will hold its first public sitting in Brisbane on Monday, 16th September at 10 am. All Commissioners will be in attendance: the Chair of the Commission, the Hon Ronald Sackville AO QC, Ms Barbara Bennett PSM, Prof Rhonda Galbally AC, Ms Andrea Mason OAM, Mr Alastair McEwin AM and the Hon John Ryan AM. There will be no appearances, evidence or testimony given at the first sitting. However, the Commissioners will outline the work of the DRC, including its scope, key themes likely to direct the DRC’s initial inquiries, the next steps for the DRC in progressing its work, and how it will ensure people with disability can engage with the DRC.
