SUMMARY:La Trobe University - Infant and child-led therapeutic approaches following family violence
DESCRIPTION:The session will draw on the article The impact of using an infant and child-led therapeutic approach in providing in situ consultations and transferable learnings to key workers working with families identified as at risk: A retrospective Australian study by Wendy Bunston\, Maureen Long\, Margarita Frederico\, Samantha Ware and Ania O’Brien. Read the article here. \nIn this webinar\, the research team will present a case study illustrating the child-led therapeutic approach and reflect on the implications for practitioners and services working with families. The session will also consider how the model supports learning transfer to frontline workers and why child-centred\, relationship-based practice matters in everyday service contexts. \nCore practice message: You do not need to be a therapist to work therapeutically.\nFrontline workers can bring a powerful infant‑ and child‑led lens into everyday interactions by slowing down\, observing\, wondering\, and keeping the child’s perspective central—with or without a specialist present. \nAn infant‑ and child‑led approach complements (rather than replaces) safety\, case planning and statutory responsibilities. The approach: \n\nTreats infants and children as subjects with agency\, not just dependents.\nActively invites their presence into conversations—in the room and “in all participants’ minds”.\nUses behaviour\, play\, movement and emotion as communication.\nPositions children as powerful motivators for hope and change within families.\n\nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:ACU\, QFCC and PeakCare - Early project findings for the child welfare and mental health sectors
DESCRIPTION:Queensland’s mental health and child welfare systems were not well designed for the trauma‑driven\, transdiagnostic and chronic presentations that maltreated children experience resulting in many young people falling through wide systemic gaps. \nThat’s why PeakCare and The Queensland Child and Family Commission\, with the Institute of Child Protection Studies (ACU) are developing A Youth Mental Health Framework for Maltreatment Healing; a multi‑sectoral framework that defines the system conditions required for effective early mental health intervention for young people affected by trauma. \nJoin our upcoming webinar to explore: \n\nWhy early mental health responses for maltreated young people demand a different system design to current practice\n\n\nWhat our national survey is revealing about system-level resources and conditions practitioners say are essential for maltreated children\n\n\nThe emerging elements of our multi‑sectoral framework built specifically for maltreatment‑related mental health needs\, and\n\n\nHow leaders and decision‑makers can shape the next phase of this work\n\nRegister now

SUMMARY:Parentshop - 123 Magic and Emotion Coaching
DESCRIPTION:1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching is a one-day professional learning program designed to equip practitioners with practical\, evidence-based strategies for supporting children’s emotional regulation and managing challenging behaviour. \nThe program is grounded in two well-established principles from developmental and behavioural research: \n(1) that children can be supported to develop more adaptive and flexible responses to frustration and emotional distress\, and \n(2) that parents and carers can be taught clear\, structured\, and easy-to-apply strategies that are effective in everyday parenting contexts. \n1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching integrates behavioural limit-setting with Emotion Coaching approaches\, drawing on research demonstrating the effectiveness of consistent\, calm behavioural guidance combined with adult support for children’s emotional understanding and self-regulation. The program has been widely implemented and evaluated internationally\, with evidence indicating improvements in child behaviour\, parent confidence\, and family functioning. \nProfessional training incorporates a range of adult learning methodologies\, including role-play\, guided group discussion\, structured worksheets\, and video-based demonstrations\, to support skill acquisition and applied practice. Courses are delivered via live webinar and face-to-face formats across Australia. \nPractitioners seeking to become Certified Parent Educators are provided with additional curriculum and presentation resources to ensure program fidelity and high-quality delivery to parent audiences. Annual certification supports ongoing quality assurance and alignment with best-practice implementation standards. Certification is renewed annually ($69 in the first year; $49 in subsequent years)\, with a mandatory refresher required every five years. Annual certification is included in the cost of the refresher training. \nFind out more and register \n9am – 4pm \n$410pp \nCertification additional after training

SUMMARY:QAIDN - Online Roundtable: Lets talk about DFSV\, people with disability and community responses
DESCRIPTION:People with disability of all ages continue to experience violence\, neglect\, abuse\, and exploitation. This was highlighted in 2025 with the release of the Disability Royal Commission and remains a significant issue across Queensland. \nDomestic\, family\, and sexual violence (DFSV) disproportionately impacts people with disability. It also intersects with diverse identities\, including First Nations people with disability\, LGBTIQ+ people with disability\, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. \nThis free online session brings together speakers who have been working collaboratively to develop community-led solutions to address both interpersonal and institutional violence against people with disability. It is time to make our communities\, homes\, workplaces\, and state-run institutions safer and more inclusive. \nThe session will cover: \n\nThe current context in Queensland\, including both personal and institutional relationships\nWhy disability advocates initiated a community project addressing DFSV\, in response to rapidly increasing demand for support\nCommunity-led responses\nKey issues and emerging ideas that need to be addressed\nBuilding your knowledge of your rights and how to support others to live free from violence\, abuse\, neglect\, and exploitation\n\nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:All in for Growing Deadly Brains: How science is catching up with 60 000 years of cultural wisdom
DESCRIPTION:A National Reconciliation Week Webinar \nPresented by ARACY/QKP and Yiliyapinya Indigenous Corporation \nSupported by the Department of Social Services \n  \nEvery child deserves a healthy start. Not just some children — all of them. And the science is clear on what that takes. \nThe first years of life are crucial for building brains. The experiences children have — the relationships\, the safety\, the connection to culture and community — shape their health and wellbeing for life. When children have what they need in those years\, they thrive. \nRight now\, too many First Nations children do not have what they need. And the cost is measured in children’s lives. \nThis Reconciliation Week\, the sector is done spectating. \nThe 2026 theme is All In. Not watching from the sidelines. Not leaving it to others. Reconciliation is not passive — and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people\, who have carried that weight for far too long. This is collective responsibility. \nThe Close the Gap Campaign this year calls for Community Voices as the pathway to justice\, equality and healing. This webinar is that call\, answered. \nAll In means showing up. It means funding what works. It means backing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to lead. \nJoin colleagues the day before Reconciliation Week opens — and come ready to act. \nWhat you will leave knowing: \n\nWhat brain science says every child needs to thrive – and how culture delivers it\nHow Yiliyapinya’s work is supporting stronger outcomes for children\, families and communities\nWhy children in some communities are missing out – and what we can do about it together\nWhat you can do to move this forward\n\nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:Project Paradigm - Shifting the Paradigm: The Manosphere\, online misogyny and offline violence
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with leading experts and academics in the field\, Project Paradigm’s free webinar series enables the sharing of current research\, frontline experience\, and practical strategies to prevent\, identify\, and respond to child sexual exploitation. \nIn recent years online misogyny has become increasingly prevalent\, with members of the so-called ‘Manosphere’ – a collection of anti-feminist and misogynistic blogs\, social media channels and more – perpetrating digital harassment campaigns targeted primarily at women. This webinar will explore the complex and increasingly urgent connections between this online misogyny and real-world violence against women and children. It will examine the linkages between these patterns of violence\, and specifically how digital platforms can both reflect and amplify gender-based violence\, enabling the spread of harassment\, doxxing\, and hate speech that often also spreads to offline violence. The session will highlight patterns of online abuse\, the role of technology design in perpetuating violence\, and look at some effective strategies for prevention and accountability. \nFind out more and register
