SUMMARY:Parentshop - Engaging Adolescents
DESCRIPTION:Engaging Adolescents™ is a structured professional learning program that equips practitioners with evidence-informed strategies to support adolescents in the regulation of behaviour and emotional responses. The program focuses on strengthening relational engagement with adolescents\, enhancing parental–adolescent relationships\, and implementing effective approaches to address challenging and unacceptable behaviour. \nParticipants develop a clear understanding of their professional role in supporting adolescents and families\, with an emphasis on fostering constructive communication and reducing the escalation of conflict. The training builds practitioner confidence in guiding parents to manage adolescent behaviour in ways that promote collaboration\, emotional safety\, and respectful dialogue. \nThe one-day professional training incorporates experiential learning methodologies\, including facilitated role-play\, guided group discussion\, structured worksheets\, and video-based case examples. Upon completion\, participants are equipped to apply the program principles in clinical\, educational\, or community settings\, and to deliver the Engaging Adolescents™ program to parents across three structured sessions. The training also provides guidance on integrating the program’s core tenets into brief\, individualised one-to-one interventions. \nPractitioners may elect to pursue certification as an Engaging Adolescents™ Parent Educator. Certification includes access to comprehensive facilitator resources to support high-fidelity program delivery and maintain quality assurance standards. Certification is renewed annually ($69 for the first year and $49 for subsequent years)\, with a mandatory refresher every five years. Annual certification is included within the refresher fee. \nFind out more and register \n9.00am – 4.00pm AEDT (where daylight savings is still in force) \n$410pp \nCertification additional after training

SUMMARY:Change for Youth - Annual Gala Luncheon 2026
DESCRIPTION:Right now in Queensland\, more than 12\,000 children live in out-of-home care. Too many carry the weight of trauma\, disrupted education\, and a system that struggles to meet their needs. The consequences are profound – disengagement from school\, social isolation\, and\, all too often\, contact with the youth justice system. \nChange for Youth believe children who’ve experienced hardship deserve more than hope – they deserve action. That’s why our Empower Youth Program delivers one-on-one\, trauma-informed learning and wellbeing support\, and why we work closely with schools\, systems\, and carers to advocate for lasting change. The results are powerful: when a child reconnects with learning\, they begin to see possibility in themselves and in their future. These are not small wins – they are life-changing. \nIn March\, Change for Youth will host the inaugural Bloom Gala Luncheon at The Calile Hotel. More than a celebration\, it is about planting seeds of opportunity – fuelling lasting change for children and communities. With every partnership and every pledge\, together\, we grow futures. \nYour support helps young people flourish by: \n\nKeeping more young people engaged in school and family-based placements\nAdvocating for trauma-aware systems that better meet their needs\nRedirecting futures away from crisis and toward opportunity\n\nTogether\, we can create a community where every child is safe\, supported\, and set up to shine. \nGRAND BALLROOM\, THE CALILE HOTEL\n48 James Street\, Fortitude Valley\, Qld 4006 \n20TH MARCH 2026\n11.30 am to 4.00 pm \nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:World Social Work Day 2026 - Co-Building Hope & Harmony
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this year is ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’\, which highlights the vital role of social work in bringing people together across communities\, cultures\, and systems to shape a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow. It is both a reminder and a challenge: that the only sustainable way forward is through cooperation\, solidarity\, and co-creation. \nThe International Federation of Social Workers says: at its heart\, social work is a profession rooted in the values of human dignity\, social justice\, and community participation. These values affirm that no society can thrive when its people are divided or excluded. The theme therefore underscores the urgent need to restore trust and to rebuild bonds of belonging\, in fractured communities. \nWorld Social Work Day 2026 webinar – ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’ \nDate: 17 March 2026 \nTime: 6:30-8:00pm AEDT (1.5 hours CPD) \nLocation: Online \nDescription: Join Dr Wilma Peters and our 2025 National Excellence Award Winners as they gather to discuss the World Social Work Day Theme for 2026 ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’. \nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:Emerging Minds - Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Opportunities for a coordinated system of support
DESCRIPTION:Children and their families engage with a range of workforces and systems every day\, with many playing a role in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing. While access to specialist care is important\, there are great benefits to expanding opportunities to reach children and families earlier in their journey and to respond to concerns in a coordinated way. \nThrough consideration of data and findings from recent research projects\, Emerging Minds has identified opportunities to promote improvements to competency\, collaboration and coordination across health\, education\, social and community services. \nThis webinar will consider the scope for systems to improve mental health support for children and their families across the spectrum of services. Emerging Minds team members will discuss their work on a competency framework to support development of child mental health professionals\, in alignment with the organisation’s vision for a comprehensive child mental health system. The team will also explore the role that sectors and organisations can play in bringing this vision to fruition for the wellbeing of children and families. \nThis is the final webinar in a three-part series titled Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Exploring data and policy. You do not need to have attended previous sessions to engage with this one. It is free to attend. \n\n\nFind out more and register
