SUMMARY:QAIDN - Online Roundtable: Lets talk about DFSV\, people with disability and community responses
DESCRIPTION:People with disability of all ages continue to experience violence\, neglect\, abuse\, and exploitation. This was highlighted in 2025 with the release of the Disability Royal Commission and remains a significant issue across Queensland. \nDomestic\, family\, and sexual violence (DFSV) disproportionately impacts people with disability. It also intersects with diverse identities\, including First Nations people with disability\, LGBTIQ+ people with disability\, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. \nThis free online session brings together speakers who have been working collaboratively to develop community-led solutions to address both interpersonal and institutional violence against people with disability. It is time to make our communities\, homes\, workplaces\, and state-run institutions safer and more inclusive. \nThe session will cover: \n\nThe current context in Queensland\, including both personal and institutional relationships\nWhy disability advocates initiated a community project addressing DFSV\, in response to rapidly increasing demand for support\nCommunity-led responses\nKey issues and emerging ideas that need to be addressed\nBuilding your knowledge of your rights and how to support others to live free from violence\, abuse\, neglect\, and exploitation\n\nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:Project Paradigm - Shifting the Paradigm: The Manosphere\, online misogyny and offline violence
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with leading experts and academics in the field\, Project Paradigm’s free webinar series enables the sharing of current research\, frontline experience\, and practical strategies to prevent\, identify\, and respond to child sexual exploitation. \nIn recent years online misogyny has become increasingly prevalent\, with members of the so-called ‘Manosphere’ – a collection of anti-feminist and misogynistic blogs\, social media channels and more – perpetrating digital harassment campaigns targeted primarily at women. This webinar will explore the complex and increasingly urgent connections between this online misogyny and real-world violence against women and children. It will examine the linkages between these patterns of violence\, and specifically how digital platforms can both reflect and amplify gender-based violence\, enabling the spread of harassment\, doxxing\, and hate speech that often also spreads to offline violence. The session will highlight patterns of online abuse\, the role of technology design in perpetuating violence\, and look at some effective strategies for prevention and accountability. \nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:World Social Work Day 2026 - Co-Building Hope & Harmony
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this year is ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’\, which highlights the vital role of social work in bringing people together across communities\, cultures\, and systems to shape a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow. It is both a reminder and a challenge: that the only sustainable way forward is through cooperation\, solidarity\, and co-creation. \nThe International Federation of Social Workers says: at its heart\, social work is a profession rooted in the values of human dignity\, social justice\, and community participation. These values affirm that no society can thrive when its people are divided or excluded. The theme therefore underscores the urgent need to restore trust and to rebuild bonds of belonging\, in fractured communities. \nWorld Social Work Day 2026 webinar – ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’ \nDate: 17 March 2026 \nTime: 6:30-8:00pm AEDT (1.5 hours CPD) \nLocation: Online \nDescription: Join Dr Wilma Peters and our 2025 National Excellence Award Winners as they gather to discuss the World Social Work Day Theme for 2026 ‘Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’. \nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:Emerging Minds - Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Opportunities for a coordinated system of support
DESCRIPTION:Children and their families engage with a range of workforces and systems every day\, with many playing a role in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing. While access to specialist care is important\, there are great benefits to expanding opportunities to reach children and families earlier in their journey and to respond to concerns in a coordinated way. \nThrough consideration of data and findings from recent research projects\, Emerging Minds has identified opportunities to promote improvements to competency\, collaboration and coordination across health\, education\, social and community services. \nThis webinar will consider the scope for systems to improve mental health support for children and their families across the spectrum of services. Emerging Minds team members will discuss their work on a competency framework to support development of child mental health professionals\, in alignment with the organisation’s vision for a comprehensive child mental health system. The team will also explore the role that sectors and organisations can play in bringing this vision to fruition for the wellbeing of children and families. \nThis is the final webinar in a three-part series titled Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Exploring data and policy. You do not need to have attended previous sessions to engage with this one. It is free to attend. \n\n\nFind out more and register

SUMMARY:Emerging Minds - Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Gaps and strengths in workforce competency
DESCRIPTION:Most health\, social and community services workforces currently support child mental health at work. Research conducted by Emerging Minds shows that even service workers whose job descriptions do not include support of child mental health are regularly engaged in this work. While this research shows that competency is moderate to low across a range of child mental health domains\, engagement in workforce development can make a significant difference. Improving outcomes for children and their families means enabling workforces\, organisations and systems to deliver quality support across the mental health continuum. \nIn this webinar\, Emerging Minds team members will discuss findings from the second National Workforce Survey for Child\, Parent and Family Mental Health. These findings provide a snapshot of child mental health competence across a broad range of health\, social and community services workers in Australia. \nDuring the webinar\, you will gain insights into areas of practice strength and areas that require further development\, including differences related to location\, occupation and degree of workplace support for child mental health practice. The webinar is free to attend. \nThis webinar is the second in a three-part series titled Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Exploring data and policy. \n\n\n\nFind out more and register
