Congratulations to the winners of the 2021 Queensland Child Protection Week Awards

As this year’s Child Protection Week draws to a close, PeakCare warmly congratulates the many worthy recipients of the 2021 Queensland Child Protection Week Awards.

Professional Government

Outstanding contribution to promoting child protection issues in their capacity as a Professional working in the child protection (or related) field. Winner: Queensland Police Service – Policy and Programs Unit, Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group

Professional Non-Government

Outstanding contribution to child protection at a practice, policy or service development level within the public service. Winner: Mel James – Social Care Solutions

Media & Communications Award

Development of an innovative approach, research or resource to promote child protection. Winner: Life Without Barriers – We Put Children First Campaign

Addressing Overrepresentation

Addressing overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children, and young people in the child protection system Award – Outstanding contribution to addressing the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children and young people through policy, programs or practice Winner: HALT Collective Initiative

Thriving Communities

Initiative Award Any community operated program, initiative, event or campaign that focuses on enhancing child protection in our communities. Winner: Our community, our families, our children

Regional Program

Program that operates within part of, or across, a region to address some aspect of child protection. Winner: Safe Connections – Early Years Linkages Project

Volunteers

Invaluable contributions to child protection made by volunteers working in government or non-government agencies. Winner: Walking Together for Logan Children – Aunty Coral Dessaix, Debbie Miscamble, and Uncle Peter Eather

Child Safe Organisation Award

Demonstrated commitment to the ongoing journey of creating a child-focused culture that keeps children safe and well (in line with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations). Winner: YMCA of Brisbane

Youth Participation Award

Involvement of young people in the planning of a local activity to promote child protection. Winner: TRACTION

Education Initiative Award

Development of an innovative approach, research or resource to promote child protection. Winner: Goondiwindi State Primary School

Transition to Success
