Compassion – looking out for each other and those around you

We are now in a stressful time and all will be coping with this as best we can. It will be important to predict that there may be times when parents of children in your care may seem to be demanding or aggressive – it will be their way of expressing their concerns about the safety and well-being of their children and the frustration of being unable to be present to protect them. The bravado of young people in appearing to flaunt social distancing protocols and the hygiene practices you are attempting to implement will often be masking secret fears they have for themselves and others. Displays of frayed tempers and frustration are likely to emerge in your dealings with colleagues – it won’t be personal. Keep a check on each other, understand why these behaviours are occurring, be re-assuring and draw on your reservoirs of good humour and compassion.
