Committee’s report on Human Rights Bill tabled in Parliament

Another major milestone has been reached in the journey towards having human rights legislation proclaimed in Queensland. On Monday 4th February, the report of the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee on the Human Rights Bill 2018 was tabled in Parliament, which included the Committee’s recommendation that the Bill be passed. Click here to view the Committee’s report. Transcripts of the Committee’s public hearings and copies of the submissions lodged with the Committee (including PeakCare’s submission) can be viewed here.

As we move closer to preparing for the Act’s implementation, it is now time for PeakCare Members to give close and careful consideration to how the legislation will impact ways in which you frame, deliver and are held to account for the services you provide. PeakCare congratulates all who have been involved in driving and supporting the Human Rights Act for Queensland Campaign and commends the Honourable Yvette D’Ath, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice for her role in championing the legislation.
