The Centre of Health and Social Research at the Australian Catholic University has published a review of the current literature on the alcohol-related knowledge, attitudes and expectancies of children under 12 with the aim to understand more about young children’s awareness of alcohol. Though the amount of literature included was modest, the study found that from a very young age – and therefore prior to using alcohol – children are aware of and able to identify alcohol and its effects, with attitudes becoming more positive over time.
