The Forde Foundation was established in August 2000, in response to Recommendation 39 of the final report of the Commission of Inquiry into Abuse of Children in Queensland Institutions (the Forde Inquiry). The Forde Foundation is proud to be committed to improving quality of life for Forgotten Australians and other care leavers. The Foundation focuses on improving quality of life for people who were abused or neglected in care, through advancing their health, education and welfare, and pays respect to the experiences of care leavers who were abused or neglected in institutions and systems that were meant to support and care for them as children. For over two decades, the Forde small grants program has helped enhance the lives of people who suffered abuse or neglect in Queensland institutions.
