SANDBAG Community Centre in partnership with JK Diversity Consultants is hosting this workshop to build capacity and sector development for local service providers within Brisbane North region to enhance their capacity to engage and respond to migrant and refugee families who experience domestic and family violence. This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Cultural, Ethnicity, Religious factors related to DV
  • Understanding gender roles and traditions
  • Culturally Sensitive Practice
  • Risk Assessment & Safety Planning

Jatinder Kaur is the director of JK Diversity Consultants which specialises in working with migrant and refugee communities. She is a Social Worker with over 15 years’ experience in working child protection, domestic violence, mental health, policy and research in Australia. She is passionate about promoting culturally sensitive practice and has developed practice guides and training workshops for social workers across Australia.

When: Tuesday, 21st March 2017. Registrations from 09:15 with the workshop running from 09:30 until 13:00
