From 1 July 2016, the Office of the Child and Family Official Solicitor (OCFOS) commenced in the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services and the Director of Child Protection Litigation (DCPL) commenced as an independent statutory agency in the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
These court work and litigation reforms are intended to introduce quicker timeframes to resolve matters, improve consistency across Queensland, and support children, young people, parents and others to have a greater opportunity to present their views in court and to access legal representation.
Who should attend: Managers, team leaders, Recognised Entity workers and other practitioners in NGOs that work with or support clients who are involved in court matters, are called to appear as witnesses, prepare affidavits or are creating client records that could be subpoenaed in child protection matters in the Childrens Court of Queensland.
