on 18th August 2016

The South Australian Child Protection Systems Royal Commission Report, The life they deserve, was released in early August 2016. The report is presented in two volumes. The first volume sets out what the Royal Commission did to examine the adequacy of current laws and policies to protect children and young people, system deficits and 260 recommendations addressing a wide range of structural, system and practice aspects across the SA government and service system. The second volume contains 5 case studies that examine the operation of the system and practice quality in specific areas. Four focus on the individual circumstances of young children, intervening in high risk families, leaving care, and children with complex needs in out of home care.

The closing date for receiving nominations of candidates to stand for election to the PeakCare Board is Monday 9th November 2015. On the following day, advice will be sent to all Member organisations identifying those who have been nominated including copies of their ‘Candidate Election Statements’.

Voting Delegates are strongly encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting and cast their votes. In the event that a Voting Delegate is unable to attend the Annual General Meeting, please note the information that all Voting Delegates will receive on 10th November 2015 about the means available to you to exercise a ‘proxy vote’.

PeakCare’s preference, of course, is to welcome all our Voting Delegates and others from your organisations when you attend the Annual General Meeting and the preceding ‘Encore Sessions’. Strong attendance at these events will, in a highly visible manner, provide indication of a formidable and capable non-government sector with a collective interest in, and commitment to, sector-wide child protection policy, practice and service improvements. This, in turn, strengthens PeakCare’s capacity to negotiate and advocate for these improvements. PeakCare is counting on your support in making your interest and commitment highly visible to all.
